Science Award Selection Committee

The Science Award Selection Committee is in charge of giving the Research Award for published papers and the Encouragement Award for the Presentation at International Conferences. The purpose is to foster young researchers and to contribute to the development of biological psychiatry. The Research Award is given to a member of the Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry (JSBP) who did outstanding studies. As a rule, the Research Award is given to one researcher per year. The award winner will be the head author of an excellent article and who was 40 years old or under when the article was accepted and who had been a full member of JSBP for two years or more. The articles accepted and scheduled for publication and reviews with originality will also be considered for selection. The award winner receives a supplementary prize of 200,000 yen. The purpose of the Encouragement Award is to encourage young researchers to participate in international academic conferences and to present a promising superb paper. We invite applications twice a year. The first half is from April to September of the reference year and the second half is from October to March of the reference year. In each term two presentations in international academic conferences will receive the award. The applicants need to have been a member of JSPP for three years or more and to have been under 35 years old when they applied for the award. The award winners receive a supplementary prize of 150,000 yen. We commend the winners at our annual meeting and have them do poster presentation. We look forward to receiving many applications.

Ethics Committe

The Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry (JSBP) Ethics Committee provides guidance to the research conduct, presentation and publication by the members of JSBP. The primary role of the JSBP Ethics Committee is to protect the welfare and the rights of participants in research conducted by the member of the JSBP.  The JSBP Ethics Committee keeps the following ethical guidelines.

Editorial Committee

The publication of Newsletter of the Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry (JSBP) started in 1986. The commercial magazine, Brain Science and Mental Disorders, became the semi official journal of JSBP in 1995. The magazine became the official journal of JSBP in 2004. It was renamed as the Japanese Journal of Biological Psychiatry (JJBP). Since that time the journal has been playing an important role as a venue for exchanging information on biological psychiatry among the members and especially among the young researchers. The journal centers on articles in Japanese. However, we also accept articles in English. Along with the reports on basic studies and clinical studies (original articles) and newsletters, the journal mainly publishes reviews, case reports, articles from symposiums or educational lectures presented at conferences on biological psychiatry, introductions on the symposiums hosted by the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP), the Japanese translation of the biological treatment guideline made by WFSBP. We publish the journal four times a year. Besides, we completed a publication consisted of fifteen volumes as biological psychiatry series. In addition, we publicize our activities to the public through our homepage on the Web.

International Communication Committe

The Japanese Society of Biological Psychiatry (JSBP) is the largest member society of the World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP). Therefore, the International Communication Committee aims to contribute actively to international communication and interaction among member societies so that we will be in accord with the position we hold in WFSBP. We have been engaging in developing close relationships with the researchers of biological psychiatry in the US for some time. From now on, we also would like to support the development of biological psychiatry in Asia. In addition, we also aim to foster young researchers and to encourage them to participate in international academic conferences and to present papers.
